The  star shape comes from the Seal of Solomon (or Ring of Solomon; Arabic: خاتم سليمان‎ Khātam Sulaymān) is the signet ring attributed to King Solomon in medieval Arabic tradition, from which it developed in Islamic and Jewish mysticism and in Western occultism. It is the predecessor of the Star of David, which became the symbol of the Jewish people in modern times. A hand inside this motif reinforces its power. The chevron patterns along the fingers  according to one scholar (Rabate) are associated with reptiles which came from an ancient Jewish tradition, probably unknown by the wearers. Others think these are connected to fertility as they appear in carpet designs.
This is an interesting piece with a mark to the rear. Possibly a makers mark.
