This is a string of 49 Islamic Period beads and are circa 1,000 years old (+ or -). Most probably originally made in Egypt.
These beads were excavated originally in Mali, where they would be found one by one by villagers in remote places after it had rained, or when they dug ditches and then brought to the local bead dealer.
There is a mix of Islamic period 400 to 1200 AD eye beads, possibly Ptolomaic and Roman c 300BC to 200 AD, folded mosaic glass beads and some long Islamic beads. All these beads have the wear and patina of ancient beads.
