This is a necklace I bought from the 'Mudlarks', these are people who have permits to search the foreshore of the Thames, the river in London. All sorts of old and ancient items come to the surface over time. These are mainly Roman beads, the brown lozenge shaped ones and the blue ones.  There are gold opaque glass beads which are also very early beads made with gold sheet inside glass. The small solid gold ones are silver gilt and are definitely not machine made but exactly their age as well as the white glass beads I couldnt say exactly but they have significant age, more than 1000 years or so.

It makes a very pleasing piece of wearable jewellery.
