Wonderful Himalayan Ladakh gau box. The back closure was not added because these were sewn to a headdress studded with turquoises called a Perak .  W6.2cms x H7.2 depth 1.5cms
This form of box originated in Tibet and is in wide use throughout the Himalyan region. There is a small carnelian in the centre.
