This is a rather extravagant Pashtun dress in that there is a great deal of purple silk used particularly to make the pleats to the rear of the dress which have been embroidered and embellished. It is a home made dress with silk velvet on the bodice and multicoloured sleeves, the back of the bodice is Russian block printed cotton. The gold trim has been applied with great skill. The dress would have originally been worn with trousers. Patches of Uzbek ikat silk line the underside of the sleeves.
It is a very authentic piece and would fit a UK size 14 to 16, US 10 bust 40
